Each day, the over 100 people who come together at the Center for the noon day meals are sharing favorite jokes, pleasant memories, rekindling old friendships or forming new ones, extending their discussion from a morning class, or planning the activities in which they will participate later. While they are enjoying their meal at the Center, Meals on Wheels volunteers are delivering to homebound residents in the Newark area.

NEWS FROM THE KITCHEN... DID YOU KNOW that, unlike other senior center meal programs, the meals prepared at the Newark Senior Center are not funded by the Federal government? Food costs during this past year have risen dramatically. I am sure you have noticed it at the grocery store as well. Lunchtime prices will be increasing in July as noted below. Any donations that members could provide toward the cost of their meal would be appreciated and allow us to continue providing you with great tasting, quality meals. Please consider a donation each day by simply saying, “keep the change”. DID YOU KNOW that in addition to the menu published in the newsletter, Chef Raymond and the kitchen crew prepare delicious daily specials? Every day we have something new and different to try. Past selections include Irish Stew, Asian Chicken, and Quesadillas, as well as favorite dishes from the locals of Hawaii and Jamaica. Come in and give these new menu items a try. The kitchen staff hopes to see you real soon!	THE $4 LUNCH PROGRAM Would you like to receive a FREE lunch and soup? 1. Stop by the cafeteria lunch line and ask a food service worker for your $4 Lunch Program Card. 2. Simply bring your $4 Lunch Program Card with you every day you buy lunch and have the cashier sign your card. 3. Once you have your $4 Lunch Program Card filled, present your $4 Lunch Program Card to the cashier and receive your FREE lunch and soup. (Buy 10 get 1 FREE) Make sure you sign the bottom of your $4 Lunch Program Card, so that if it gets lost, we can return it to you. We hope you enjoy your lunch as much as we enjoy serving you!
