The Newark Senior Center has many different volunteer opportunities available to accommodate a variety of interests.
Individual Activities
NSC depends on volunteers for many of the everyday functions of the Center. These functions include managing the Reception Desk, food cashiers, administrative tasks and facilitating groups and classes that meet regularly at the Center. The opportunity is also available to create a volunteer job that would use your personal skills and interests to help the Center.
Project Consultants for Nonprofits (PCN)
Project Consultants for Nonprofits is a group of experienced volunteers’ ages 50+ who, working in small teams, serve as consultants and assist local nonprofits with short term projects.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver approximately 100 meals a day to homebound residents in the Newark area. For numerous reasons these people are not able to prepare a nutritional meal on their own. For many, this lunch time visitor may be the only person they will see that day. Meals on Wheels helps people remain independent in their homes whether they have become frail with age or are recovering from surgery or illness. If you would like to volunteer, please call (302) 737-5747 or email Erin Hook.
Group Activities
NSC always welcomes groups of volunteers to assist the Center with activities such as painting, landscaping, and other building maintenance. Assistance from large groups is also needed for several of our special events including our two flea markets, Casino Night and Empty Bowls.
Please contact our Development Coordinator, Jessica Feinberg, at (302) 737-2336 ext. 13 or at jfeinberg@newarkseniorcenter.com for more information about any of these opportunities. |
